Those of us who grew up in the world where a PC was a real rarity have probably become particularly attached to the Windows four square logo. Now when Microsoft officially unveiled its new design, the users are reminded of how long this company actually dominated the technology world. It’s been 25 years since this company last updated their logo and this year seems to be the year of great steps for them.
This redesign came after Microsoft had a very successful year working on so many new projects. They have been carrying out final testing of Windows 8, updating Windows Phone 8 and Xbox services. The exact release date for the final version of Office 15 is still unknown but it was recently announced that it will include a set of new features that will rely on cloud.
The interface of the Office and other services is designed to be more in line with Windows 8 and so is the case with the new logo. It is a simplistic representation of window with four panes in different colors with the company’s name next to it, so it actually consists of two parts – the logotype and the symbol. The logotype is printed in Segoe font as well as the other Microsoft products and the symbol retained its original colors that are intended to ‘express the company’s diverse portfolio of products’. The design is modern which should represent the new era Microsoft is headed to.
People in Microsoft claim they are happy with their new logo and that it represents the company’s constant wish to reimagine and improve their products. After the period of hard work the company seems to adopt a whole new identity that promises a lot to their users. However, it is still left to be seen whether the improvements will fulfill the expectations everyone seem to have about the company.
